History

The Safe Center was created by the merger of two not-for-profits which have served Nassau County since 1977. In 2014, the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence, led by Sandy Oliva, and the Coalition Against Child Abuse & Neglect, led by Cindy Scott, merged to form The Safe Center, the leading victim-service agency in Nassau County. We have grown to become a one-stop-shop direct service agency for domestic violence/intimate partner violence, rape & sexual
assault, child abuse and human trafficking.

By LIRR:

Take the LIRR to the Bethpage train station. (We are a 5 minute walk from the station.) When you arrive, you will exit onto platform B. Take the stairs down from the platform, turn right, and walk straight along the gravel path. The tracks should be on your right and a fence to your left. (If you are walking towards 7-11 you are heading in the wrong direction.) There will be an opening in the fence straight ahead. Walk through the fence and step up into the parking lot. Walk past building C and follow signs to The Safe Center which is located in building B. From the lobby, take elevator to 2nd floor.
*Please be aware that the train to Bethpage runs infrequently.
You can also take a train to Hicksville which runs more frequently, but then you will need to take a cab to The Safe Center as it is a 5-10 minute drive from there.

By Car:

**PLEASE NOTE, putting this address in your GPS may not get you to The Safe Center. Some GPS devices will only bring you to the corner of South Oyster Bay Road and Grumman Road West – please follow written directions from there. **

From the Northern State Parkway
•   Take Exit 35 South (Route 106/107)
•   Continue to Fork in Road
•   Stay left onto Route 107
•   Follow Route 107 over Old Country Road (Walgreen’s on the southwest corner – Capital 0ne Bank on the northwest corner – Seven 11 on the southeast corner)
•   Continue, staying on your left (look for green sign on your right) to Hazel Street (Seven 11 on northeast corner) make wide left onto Hazel Street in front of King Bear on your right
•   Cross over South Oyster Bay Road to Grumman Road West (Lily Popcorn on left and Northrop Grumman on your right)

Human Trafficking Services: Trauma informed counseling and case management services are designed specifically for adult and child trafficking victims.

Legal Services: Our legal staff provides a variety of services in Nassau County Courts to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, rape/sexual assault, and elder abuse.

Rape & Sexual Assault Services: Free individual and group counseling is available to all survivors of sexual assault.

The Education Department of The Safe Center offers extensive learning opportunities on emerging topics related to abuse using cutting edge research for all sectors of society: individuals, neighborhoods, community organizations, schools, colleges and universities, religious institutions, fraternal groups, small businesses, service providers, corporations and everything in-between.
